Dallas Cowboys Training Camp

The Dallas Cowboys came to Oxnard in August of 2008 for summer training camp while their new stadium and training facilities back in Texas were still under construction. All the big names were present in preparation for a new NFL season where the ‘Boys were expected to challenge for honors. TV crews were also in attendance as the camp was being featured on annual HBO show “Hard Knocks”.

I did try to stay retired from freelance web design, honest. I joined an independent local gym and to do my part to try and help them succeed in a very competitive market I created a small but functional website. Hopefully this will go someway to getting a few more bodies in the door and memberships signed. I need this place to stay open so I don’t have to go back to Globo-Gym.

Las Vegas Strip Casinos

The wife and I made it back to Las Vegas for our first anniversary. With camera, tripod and remote control in hand I was able to take a few long exposures in front of some well known casinos on The Strip. Here you can see the Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, Ballys and Paris. Photos taken June 21st 2008.

Sequoia National Park

Here are some shots from Sequoia National Park in California. The park features the largest living organism in the world (by volume), the General Sherman tree. I have included a vertical panorama of this tree with my wife in the foreground to give it some scale. For the record she is 5′6. June 2008.

So What Happened to Gingercow?

The cow is dead, long live the cow. Well, not quite. Gingercow.com has been retired as I no longer have the time or the inclination to provide freelance web design services. I am working as a full time professional web designer and my free time is far better spend enjoying alternative pursuits. As such, my personal website is now dedicated to showcasing my amateur photography and not much else.

For those of you interested in web design services, there are two exciting options. I am a professional web designer and amateur photographer based in Ventura County, California, USA. My new website, euancurrie.com, is dedicated solely to showcasing my digital photography.

This website takes the place of gingercow.com, which was primarily used to promote my freelance web design services. As I now work as a full time professional in that area I prefer to spend my free time indulging in alternative pursuits. I do love my job but it helps keep the creative juices flowing when you can do something completely different outside of the office.

As far as photography goes, I developed a real interest when I got my first digital camera in 2001. At the time it was a pretty decent camera, a Sony Cybershot. I think I was mostly attracted to the fact I wouldn’t have to spend money on film. You can take the boy out of Scotland but you can’t take Scotland out of the boy. In 2007 I graduated to my first digital SLR camera so the photography process got a whole lot more complicated but also a whole lot more rewarding. Now I get to be a bit more creative with the pictures and have the pleasure of sharing them with visitors to this site.

For anyone who is interested, I use a Canon EOS 40D and a variety of Canon and Sigma lenses. I try to keep the EXIF data attached to my photos so if you have EXIF Reader plugin for your web browser you should be able to view the stats for most of my photos.
